Redirect checker
Enter a URL and we follow it hop by hop, up to 10 redirects. You see each status code, where it points and how long it took.
Free · No sign-up
What you will get
- Every hop with its status code, Location header and response time
- The final URL and its status code
- Warnings for chains, loops, HTTPS downgrades and temporary redirects
How it works
We request your URL without following redirects automatically. If the answer is a redirect (301, 302, 303, 307 or 308), we read the Location header, go to that address and repeat, up to 10 times, until we reach a page that answers on its own.
For each hop we record the status code, the target and the response time. We also flag redirect chains, loops, HTTPS-to-HTTP downgrades and temporary redirects used where a permanent one is expected.
Why it matters
Redirects are unavoidable when you move pages, change URLs or switch to HTTPS, but over time they pile up into chains. Every extra hop delays the page, and Googlebot stops following after a handful of them.
The code matters too. 301 and 308 tell search engines a move is permanent and pass ranking signals to the new URL. 302 and 307 mean "temporary", so the old URL may stay in the index.
